Pseudo-Secularism

Hindu dharma is implicitly at odds with monotheistic intolerance. What is happening in India is a new historical awakening... Indian intellectuals, who want to be secure in their liberal beliefs, may not understand what is going on. But every other Indian knows precisely what is happening: deep down he knows that a larger response is emerging even if at times this response appears in his eyes to be threatening.

Missionary activity, is the very denial of secularism, which it has regarded as its enemy. The missionary movement holds that only one religion is true for humanity. It creates funds and personnel to convert the world to the one true faith. It targets the poor and uneducated who are vulnerable to favors. It does not work through reason or through friendly debate but through every sort of persuasion and intimidation, friendly or unfriendly.

India has been a wounded civilisation because of Islamic violence. Pakistanis know this; indeed they revel in it. It is only Indian Nehruvians like Romila Thapar who pretend that Islamic rule was benevolent. We should face facts: Islamic rule in India was at least as catastrophic as the later Christian rule. The Christians created massive poverty in what was a most prosperous country; the Muslims created a terrorised civilization out of what was the most creative culture that ever existed.

Some time back International Opinion carried an article detailing the takeover of Hindu temples in Karnataka and transfer of large chunks of their funds to mosques, churches, Islamic schools (madarsas) that churn out radical Muslims, and Christian schools. The die-hard Christians merrily go on converting simple, less educated, tribals, socially and economically weaker sections of Hindu population all over India.

What is more baffling is—who is this ‘minority’? Our Constitution provides special rights and privileges to the numerically less ‘minority’ communities (the architects would have thought of Parsis, Jews etc). But of late, this right is used to discriminate and harass non-minority institutions, especially in the education sector. Even the Central government constitutes numerous commissions on minority education, minority welfare, and minority reservations as if all other unorganised communities do not belong to this country.

The move to grant minority status to more and more religious and linguistic groups is a bizarre move that will divide India and lead to further fragmentation of the Hindu society.

The whole world knows that six million Jewish people were murdered by Nazis. It is also known that 1.2 million Armenians were butchered by Turkish Muslims. But nobody knows about the Hindu Holocaust. Prof Bill French of the Centre for the Study of Political Islam, Tennessee, who has conducted an in-depth research on the subject, told me that Muslims have killed 120 million human beings around the globe (including 40 million Hindus in India alone). (4) the changing religious demographic structure against the retention majority of Hindus

After Godhra, it was said that the Hindu pilgrims from Ayodhya somehow committed mass suicide for no apparent reason. Though security forces shot down three assailants speeding towards the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, two cabinet ministers had no compunctions saying that Hindus had stage-managed the attack. The targetting of Hindu pilgrims in Kashmir is being disguised as an exodus of ‘tourists,’ and now, the devastation of nearly one thousand families (almost wholly Hindu) in Mumbai in just eleven minutes leads to the silencing of Hindu human rights bodies.

Special status, privileges and rights are accorded to Muslims under the Indian constitution for fear of riots and Jihadi terrorism, and a special way to appease Muslims. If the Indian leadership believes it hasa bunch of secular Muslim leaders in India, Pakistan or any other Muslim nations, it is dead wrong. Thousands of Indians are slaughtered daily by Jihadi terrorists in Kashmir, Pakistan and Bangla Desh.Indian citizens are discriminated, tortured and humiliated in Islamic countries.

One of the most telling examples of such policy in action is the cancellation of educational classes on Friday and Muslim holidays including the month of Muslim Ramadan. By using such psychological manipulation, Muslims succeed in creating anxiety, fear and panic among young Hindus. The atmosphere created by such acts casts a great shadow over Hindu society. Hindus also feel unsafe in their own homes and workplaces, daily life is disrupted, causing considerable harm to personal and family morale. Hindus in general are depressed, marginalized and demoralized. The Muslim message is: until you leave Malappuram district, you will not be safe.

The latest in the series is the August 8, 2005 landmark judgment by the Supreme Court of India through which it dismissed the Minority Commission’s plea to grant minority status to Jains saying, if only on the basis of a different religious thought or less numerical strength or lack of health, wealth, education, power or social rights, a claim of a section of Indian society to the status of ‘minority’ is considered and conceded, there would be no end to such claims in a society as multi-religious and multi-linguistic as India is.

Minoritism is an evil that should under no circumstances be tolerated. Caste or religion-based political parties should be immediately banned. They are a menace to the unity of India.

The bed-rock, the foundation and the underlying structure of most of these dubious NGOs is anti-Statist, anti-Nationalist and blatantly anti-Hindu. While they lack specific solutions to any problem, the fact that they are focused specifically against Hindus and Hinduism is patently clear.

The move to grant minority status to more and more religious and linguistic groups is a bizarre move that will divide India and lead to further fragmentation of the Hindu society.

To divide the people into Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Parsis, Jains, etc., is not only harmful to the country but is clearly anti-secular.

'The Congress-led UPA coalition defined itself as a 'Secular' (as opposed to 'communal' Hindu ) group and so rewarded these anti-Hindu activists (the noble NGOs!) who made anti-Hinduism the key-note of their political activism. These individuals and groups distort history and historical truths, negate the nation's Hindu civilizational moorings and deny the primacy of Hindu culture and ethos to propagate the twin falsehoods that there is no 'Hindu' community and that India has always been a 'Pluralist' country. Only by secularly declaring India as a 'Pluralist' country can all these NGOs rooted in the western imperialist ideology of attack, plunder, pillage and loot of Countries can they create a geographical platform / space for their occupation and nefarious actions.

Indian insist on secularism, a useless way to fight a rigid, dangerous Islamic ideology. For thousands of years, Hindus were under intense persecution by the Jihadi Muslims--that's the way Islam operates.Islam fight for Allah until infidels are subjugated and surrendered.India must be wary in order to be able to protect what few freedoms we have left (compared to the freedoms our forefathers enjoyed prior to Islamic invasion).

Hindu students are an easy target for psychological indoctrination. One of the most telling examples of such policy in action is the cancellation of educational classes on Friday and Muslim holidays including the month of Muslim Ramadan. By using such psychological manipulation, Muslims succeed in creating anxiety, fear and panic among young Hindus. The atmosphere created by such acts casts a great shadow over Hindu society. Hindus also feel unsafe in their own homes and workplaces, daily life is disrupted, causing considerable harm to personal and family morale. Hindus in general are depressed, marginalized and demoralized. The Muslim message is: until you leave Malappuram district, you will not be safe.

Hindu gods & gospel untruths

A leading newspaper just performed a sterling service by publishing a photograph of the "Ganesh chappals" that have so enraged the Hindu-Indian community in America. Without the photograph, it would have been difficult for people in this part of the world to envisage how something so deeply offensive could have been contemplated and executed with such equanimity by cobblers in a country otherwise prone to the mantra of out-sourcing. The slippers bore tiny motifs of the god Ganesh all over, and no doubt one had only to slip one's feet into them to feel secular superiority coursing through one's veins!

Not so long ago, a leading British store thought Hindu gods were good enough (sic) to grace toilet seats. Without being hyper-sensitive, one may legitimately question why Hindu gods alone are singled out for such honour. I do not believe the incidents are innocent, harmless or accidental. India has been associated with the spiritual quest since the dawn of civilisation; the dullest soul in the world knows the esteem in which gods are held in this land. For a god as universally renowned as Ganesh to land up beneath human feet is to my mind a very intentional insult.

Hindus have a special prayer seeking Mother Earth's forgiveness for having to put their feet upon her sacred body. We cannot view a god on footwear as part of secular evolution. What is more, the religious symbols and icons of the faiths to which the offenders adhere (howsoever nominally) have never found their way into the same profane space into which Hindu gods are being thrust with apparent regularity. I therefore think that it was a mistake for the American Hindu community to let the manufacturer get away with an apology and withdrawal of the offending slippers. The next time such an offence occurs, they should file a class action suit.

I believe these cultural shock and awe tactics are related to the consistent White Christian goal of eradicating all native faiths and traditions in the world. What better way than by eroding the sanctity of other gods? At some level, these activities connect with last year's well orchestrated campaign against a US-based charity, India Relief and Development Fund (IDRF), titled "The Foreign Exchange of Hate: IDRF and American Funding of Hindutva." Coming in the wake of the Gujarat riots, it got good mileage internationally.

The November 2002 report, published by Sabrang Communications, India, and South Asia Citizens Web, France, was basically a rehash of old allegations by the Forum of Indian Leftists (FOIL) and was even authored by Biju Mathew, FOIL founding member. Some American Indian friends of mine have since united under the aegis of Friends of India and investigated the "hate" charges. Sifting through layers of innuendo, they have arrived at facts which debunk Sabrang-FOIL fulsomely.

IDRF's principal crime (sic) is that it collects funds to provide services to the poor in India, irrespective of caste or religion, in areas that missionaries fondly imagine are their sole preserve. Projects are monitored through volunteers who meet their own out-of-pocket expenses and thus ensure that as much as 99.1 per cent funds reach the intended beneficiaries.

Such dedication adversely affects the harvesting of souls! Not surprisingly, Friends of India found that Sabrang-FOIL was targeted at US corporations that provide matching funds to employee contributions to IDRF. Hurting IDRF financially would deprive Indian NGOs of funds and leave the field open to rich evangelists. IDRF was by no means flush with funds as most of its donors were small donors. Over a 13-year period, it raised just $ 13 million. In contrast, in 2001-2002, Christian bodies in Karnataka alone received $ 98 million!

Sabrang-FOIL levelled serious charges against IDRF-funded agencies in the core areas of education, tribal welfare, and so on. Regarding Ekal Vidyalaya schools, it said: "While the stated purpose of the schools is eradication of illiteracy in remote areas, the One Teacher School are heavily involved in spreading Hindutva 'education' with a focus on stopping conversions to Christianity and encouraging 'reconversions' to Hinduism."

As opposed to this, Ms Radhika Sharma in India Currents (an Indian-American monthly from San Francisco, US), observed: "Ekal Vidyalayas offer five years of free non-formal education to village children aged 5-14 years in groups of 30 to 40 ... The teachers are locally educated youths who have passed grades 8 or 9 and have been trained specifically for the purpose... These village schools also serve the ancillary function of a meeting point for the entire community wherein ideas regarding health and better lifestyle are discussed ... The curriculum is designed by educationists to cater to special local needs and is taught in the regional language of the state... The girl child is also well represented: 50 per cent of the students and teachers are female."

Friends of India has provided interesting observations from White American scholar Yvette Rosser (University of Texas, Austin), who recently travelled in some northeastern states. Visiting a non-Christian Dimasi village near Dimapur, Nagaland, she met villagers who told her that "over a hundred years ago the Americans came with the Kala Kitab (black book) and told them their Gods were Satans". Such tolerance!

The village headman told Ms Rosser that they "decided to get organised when in the fall of 1999 there were dozens of huge prayer meetings warning people that Jesus was returning to earth on the new year. Missionaries from different churches would go through all the villages on bicycles with bull-horns and tell people to come to the prayer meeting and be saved-to leave their old evil ways behind and be saved when the rapture comes on Dec 31, 1999".

The Dimasis countered with their own prayer meeting, and later got assistance from the Vivekananda Kendra to print their own Dimasi prayer booklets. No wonder the Federation of Indian American Christian Organisations of Northern America is so upset with them! The Dimasis also managed funds to preserve a unique ancient monument -a giant chess set associated with Mahabharat hero Bhima's wife, who hailed from this tribe. I've seen pictures of this set, and it truly deserves to be on top of our heritage list.

Friends of India has thus taken the Sabrang/FOIL report apart, charge by charge, and established that its authors have no primary evidence from appropriate Government sources or other acceptable proof-points to substantiate their wild accusations. Indeed, the report appears to be nothing more than ideological hatred packaged into accusations against NGOs who are providing yeoman's services in education, health care, managing orphanages, rehabilitation work (Latur and Gujarat earthquakes, Kargil victims), and other social service projects.

The most fundamental allegation, of course, relates to the 'Hinduising' activities of the Sangh Parivar and its affiliates. Here I can do no better than to leave the reader with the profound thoughts of the US-based Jubilee Church: "India ... is desperate for the truth of the gospel. In the land of a million gods, multitudes live in confusion and spiritual bondage with no knowledge of God's goodness. We bring the good news of the gospel not only through evangelism and crusades, but also by revolutionising the standard of living through missionary work, including the development of a Bible College to equip local pastors, and digging wells to bring fresh water to needy villages." Aaa hah...

Being an honest Hindu, i can see a reason behind all these attacks on the noble principles and divine tenets of the faith. It is too too too liberal in its approach. Like the utter stupidity of Mohandas Gandhi, Hinduism pre-supposes that otehr religions would love to have a better world in co-existance with any other religion. It is the insanity of the Hindu fundamental principles (that all religions are good and all their preachers intend to do good) that has installed the religion of self-annhilation and continuous suicide over years. As is obvious, the ultimate liberty and totally accommodative approach of Hinduism will one day be the cause of its total annihilation from the face of this planet. ( remember Kandhar was once Gandhar and the Bhat, the surname of notorous terrorist Makbul is a Hindu surname denoting his unfortunate linkage with Hindu priesthood ??) And its not cynisism what i am writing but see it once, either of the 2 esp. the most winning faith in the world i.e. Islam takes over the world. And mind you, it is not too far ! Just set your watch and see with a pair of objective not slumbering Hindu eyes.

Do Indians lack organizations that promote India in the International arena, that boost our Public Image ?

The India that was a multicultural society had contributed immensely to Society (Dharma), Knowledge (right from Ship Building, Sashtras to Mathematics), and political science (Arthashashtra for e.g.), medicine (ayurveda) over 2 millennium

However thanks to the invasions and colonial legacy, we were stuck with a curry and snake charmers image for a few 100 years. Even now we seemed to have shaken that thanks to Info Tech and IT pros.

Be it politics or social issues, Why do Indian whip ourselves in public ? Look at the Ramdev Issue

Are we turning into a self hating civilization or is our media Left and anti Indian ?

As long as we hold that only one religion is true, that it must convert the world, and that other religions must be false we are not good citizens with respect for all, much less secular people. We are promoting an agenda of intolerance and violence that must cause conflict and suffering, even if we are doing so in the name of God.
